Summer sentence for man who bit woman on chest

23-year-old admits assault ABH

A Colby man will be sentenced in the summer after biting a woman who was trying to help him.

Kane Andrew Damien Bibby, of Ballakillowey Road, changed his plea during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse.

The 23-year-old had initially denied assault causing actual bodily harm and was due to stand trial.

The court heard he was offered assistance by an old school friend, who lived in Port St Mary, in the early hours of 25 June last year after he was seen in distress in the street.

However Bibby, who was drunk, was said to become ‘over amorous’ and began to make ‘unwanted advances’; when she tried to restrain him he bit her on the chest and punched her in the head.

In his basis of plea Bibby said he was acting in ‘self-defence’ but accepted it was ‘excessive’.

A social enquiry report has been requested before Bibby is sentenced on 25 July; he’s been bailed until that date.
