Students given career boost by local company

A group of young people have been given a career boost by a Castletown based company.

Friends Provident International has put six students through a work academy - designed for young people not in education, employment or training - otherwise known as NEETs.

Over the course of 12 weeks they completed training modules on subjects including anti-money laundering, communication and data protection.

Each student was also given a mentor so they could talk about any issues in confidence.

At the end of the programme, each person was awarded a certificate to mark their achievement - and some have now gone on to undertake work placements.

Nathaniel Harper, 19, says before the academy he had few options.
