Tynwald rejects call for committee

The chief minister has lambasted a Tynwald colleague for not doing their homework before a sitting of the court.

Howard Quayle clashed with Garff MHK Daphne Caine yesterday, over the topic of Syrian refugees, in what was in many ways a repeat of a debate from November last year.

Mrs Caine brought a motion calling for a committee to be set up to look at the feasibility of taking in 25 people from the war-torn country, following a petition by high school students.

Mr Quayle said government was already doing plenty in other ways, which Mrs Caine should have realised:
