Storm damage clean-up continues

Small number of claims lodged after Storm Barra

Days after the Island's encounter with Storm Barra, one of the Island's leading insurers says only a small number of claims for damage to property have been received.

Richard Hulme of Tower Insurance said it was business as usual for the company's claims department.

More than sixty fallen trees around the Island provided the bulk of the Department of Infrastructure's heavy workload during the storm.

Christ Church, Laxey remains closed as work to remove damaged trees from around the building continues.

Meanwhile severe damage to the Sunken Gardens on Douglas promenade and problems with a promenade wall at Ramsey are being assessed.

The Sunken Gardens were overwhelmed by seawater after waves destroyed the wall on the seaside of the gardens.

The facility will remain closed for some time.
