Storm Bert: Weather and travel updates

Live updates of everything affected as Storm Bert sweeps through the Isle of Man

A yellow weather warning remains in effect as Storm Bert continues to sweep through the Isle of Man.

Heavy rain and severe gales of up to 70mph are forecast in some areas.

Sailings: (Last updated: 9.32am)

The majority of the Steam Packet's sailings have been cancelled.  However, the 20.30pm could go ahead weather depending, but is currently categorised as 'at risk'.

All sailings over the next two days (Sunday and Monday) are categorised as 'at risk' and remain subject to weather conditions.

 

Airport: (Last updated: 9.31am)

The 7am Manchester departure has been cancelled, similarly with the 9.15am Birmingham flight.

The 7.55am Liverpool is delayed until 3.10pm this afternoon.

The 7.20am Liverpool arrival is delayed until 2.40pm.  Meanwhile, also on the arrivals board, the 9.15am Manchester and 11.45am Birmingham are cancelled.

The 9.55am London Gatwick is delayed until 4.50pm.

The 11.35am Liverpool arrival is delayed, but no revised time has been published yet.

 

Roads: (Last updated: 9.10am)

The Isle of Man Constabulary have issued a list of all known roads affected by fallen trees:

  • Old Castletown Road is completed blocked.  Motorists told to avoid the area for the time being.
  • The A3 Main Road is completely blocked at Bishops Court.  Motorists can use the Orrisdale Loop as an alternative.
  • Patrick Road in St Johns
  • Main Road in Union Mills is partially blocked.
  • Foxdale Road near Ard Jekyll. (Understood to be cleared)
  • A30, St Johns near Saw Mills.
  • Glen Helen Bends is passable via the car park.
  • A3 to Ramsey in the area of Glen Duff.
  • Raggatt in Peel is passable with care.
  • Ballavar Road between The Hope and Archallagan Plantation.

Reports of a tree blocking the Douglas bound carriageway at Willow Spa near Braddan church.

Flooding between Braaid and St Marks near the old Bridge Nurseries.

Bus Vannin is unable to serve Peel to Ramsey due to the number of fallen trees.

Delays are expected on the Service 3 in the Dhoon area, also due to a fallen tree.

Nobles Parkrun is cancelled.

Residents in Lezayre are reporting power outages.  Manx Utilities is understood to be aware.

Laxey Christmas Market is going ahead as planned.

Christmas coffee morning at Colby Methodist Church is postponed.

Curraghs Wildlife Park is closed.

Manx Haemochromatosis Support has postponed its Iron Brew Coffee Morning in Peel.

Peel Charity Shop is closed.

The Northern Civic Amenity Site is closed.

The Western Civic Amenity Site is closed.

Middle Park Recycling Centre is closed.

Eastern Civic Amenity Site is closed.

The Manx Youth Orchestra session at St Ninian’s Lower School is cancelled.

The Isle of Man Salvation Army's Christmas Extravaganza is going ahead as planned.

University College Isle of Man's courses today are cancelled; those affected will be contacted next week.

Ramsey Farmers' Market at The Courthouse is cancelled.

All 11am hockey games are off.  QEII's games are cancelled for the entire day and Ramsey Gammar Schools' 12.35 is also off - further games are being reviewed.
