Speeding warning from coroner at inquest

A verdict of accidental death has been recorded at the inquest of a motorcyclist who was killed on the Mountain Road last month.

Forty-two year old Derek John Lindon, from Onchan, died after colliding with two cars near the Black Hut on May 24.

The inquest heard Mr Lindon received severe injuries to the head, which would have killed him almost instantly. The driver of a mini, which was involved in the crash, sustained multiple fractures.

Witnesses said Mr Lindon appeared to take the bend too wide, and his bike slipped away from him.

Police estimate he travelled 70 metres after parting with his Kawasaki machine.

Coroner Michael Moyle sent a warning to all road users travelling at high speeds, urging them to think of the consequences.
