Just one beach on the Isle of Man has registered so far for this year's Marine Conservation Society's Beachwatch litter survey and clean-up.
While there are miles of wonderful coastline not all of it is as clean as it could be and looks unsightly and poses a threat to marine wildlife.
The society reports a 96.5 per cent increase in the amount of beach litter since 1994 with major sources being rubbish from the general public, sanitary waste, shipping and fishing litter.
