Sir Norman to star in documentary

Sir Norman Wisdom will appear in a documentary about his life since he was diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer’s Disease.

The 92 year old actor and comedian, who now lives in a nursing home in Ballasalla, has been followed by camera crews for the last five months.

The BBC is filming the fly-on-the-wall programme which will be screened on BBC2 early next year.

Producers say the idea is to show what his life is like now he is more dependent on his family for support and Sir Norman’s agent, Johnny Mans, says the documentary will feature what may be his final stage appearance.

He will be shown performing his signature song Don’t Laugh At Me at the Encore Theatre Awards earlier this year.

The 40-minute programme is one of a series which looks at Britain’s oldest entertainers.
