Officers from the Isle of Man Constabulary's Public Protection Unit say they are pleased at the seven-year sentence handed down to a child sex offender yesterday (Monday).
Twenty-four-year-old Laxey man Lewis Myles Bell was found guilty of indecent assault, four counts of gross indecency with a child and possessing an indecent image of a child.
The offences involved two girls, aged 12 and 14.
Commenting on the sentencing, investigating officer Acting Detective Sergeant Andrew Pailor says the sentence reflects the serious nature of the case and the impact it had on the victims.
He goes on to reassure the public that any information received by the police indicating targeting or abuse of children will be 'acted on proactively and dealt with robustly'.
He says the Public Protection Unit is committed to protecting children from such people.
In addition to the prison sentence, Bell was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period of time and had a Sex Offender Prevention Order imposed on him.
