See a real space capsule

There's a chance today (Sunday) to look inside a real space capsule and see how it will be converted for tourist trips into space.

The spacecraft is being put on show in the courtyard at King William's College to publicise plans by Island firm Excalibur Almaz to offer orbital trips in space by the year 2013.

The company has purchased three former Russian space capsules - or re-usable re-entry vehicles - and two space stations in its latest space commerce venture.

Visitors to the capsule on show today will see how the interior will be adapted for taking passengers into space.

Vice President for Technical Operations is former astronaut Leroy Chiao.

The exhibit is open to the general public from 11am-4pm today and there's another opportunity next weekend, on both Saturday and Sunday, at the same time.
