Scammers target Manx residents

Police issue advice on how to spot scams

The Isle of Man Constabulary is warning residents to not pay deposit or buy items until it’s checked that they exist.

It comes after a number of scammers were reported to have returned to ‘work’ from various locations around the world - targeting the Manx public by using local IOM classified adverts and their information.

Police are reminding people to think before you act – some suggestions include checking if anyone knows who the seller is, if you have seen the item yourself, and if the number is withheld or off Island.

Anyone who thinks they have been affected by a scammer is asked to contact police immediately on 631212 or emailing police@gov.im
