Fine, ban and probation handed down by magistrates
A court’s heard a Santon teenager threatened his father and grabbed him by the throat in a drunken argument before drink-driving.
Seventeen-year-old Elliott Johnson of Main Road appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
He pleaded guilty to one charge each of assault and driving while over the legal alcohol limit.
Prosecution advocate Barry Swain said Johnson was drunk on 28 August when he took a bottle of wine from a fridge at around 11.30pm, and turned violent when his parents objected.
Johnson threatened to hurt his parents if they called police and demanded they give him their mobile phones, asking his father if he wanted to die.
He then threw his mother’s walking stick and grabbed his father by his throat before leaving the house and getting on his motorbike.
Police caught him in Douglas and a breath test gave a reading of 49 – the legal limit is 35.
He was fined £500 and banned from driving for a year for drink-driving, and ordered to do twelve months probation for the assault.
