Prosecution claims he evaded patrol car
A man accused of fleeing police in his BMW and failing to provide a breath sample will appear in court again in October.
Forty-two-year old William Russell of Crownleigh Court in Brixton appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
He pleaded not guilty to both offences, which are said to have taken place on 4 July.
Prosecution advocate James Robinson told the court police on patrol spotted Mr Russell in the early hours of the morning on Finch Road in Douglas.
The prosecution alleges when he turned onto Christian Road, police tried to stop Mr Russell, only for him to speed off towards Woodbourne Road.
They lost him but later found him at his girlfriend’s address and arrested him.
However, when he arrived at police headquarters and was asked to take a breath test it’s claimed he repeatedly refused.
He was bailed on condition he doesn’t leave the Isle of Man without permission from the court, and he’ll next appear at a pre-trial review on 8 October.
