Revised pay offer issued to public sector workers

Further negotiations took place on 10 July following negative responses to initial offer

Unions representing government workers have received a revised pay offer following a new round of talks earlier this week.

The Public Services Commission (PSC) is now offering a 3.25 percent increase for the current financial year, up from two percent.

The offer remains a three-year deal, with incremental decreases in the following years.

Between 2025/26, public and civil servants would receive an additional 2.5 percent rise, and a further two percent for the 2026/27 financial year.

However, if March 2026’s inflation rate is one percent higher or lower than two percent, the offer will become void and negotiations will re-open.

Unions Prospect and Unite submitted pay claims seeking an increase of around eight percent.

The initial PSC offer received negative attention with both unions describing it as 'unacceptable' and 'disgraceful'.

The PSC believes public sector pay is in danger of outstripping the private sector and says ‘pay restraint’ must be exercised.

Manx Radio has approached both unions and the government for comment.
