Restraining order for man who put hidden camera next to bed

40-year-old banned from contacting ex-girlfriend

A Douglas man's been banned from contacting his ex-girlfriend after admitting putting a hidden camera next to her bed.

Forty-year-old Nedyalko Ivanov Marinov, of Hillary Park, appeared before at Douglas Courthouse.

At an earlier hearing he’d admitted a charge of conduct amounting to harassment, towards his former partner, between 1 May and 16 June.

During sentencing the court heard Marinov lived in a camper van near the woman's home and had jacked up her car when she cut off the electricity supply from the house.

In 2020 Marinov had been convicted of assaulting the woman.

A probation report said he didn’t understand healthy relationships or the impact his harassment had on his victim.

High Bailiff Jayne Hughes placed Marinov on probation for nine months, and imposed a 12-month restraining order preventing him from contacting his ex-partner, as well as ordering him to pay £125 towards prosecution costs.
