Rehab course success

An education course for convicted drink-drivers is boasting a 100 per cent success rate.

The rehab programme is cumpulsory for all convicted motorists who want to get their driving licence back and, as Manx Radio reported last week, they have to pay for it themselves.

The courses have input from the roads police, and the fire and ambulance services and they are led by drug and alcohol education officer Orla McGlinchey

She says it's a no-nonsense approach to helping drivers who want to get back on the road (audio file attached)

The Island's Chief Probation Officer David Sellick says people from all walks of life attend the course, after driving bans ranging from two years to 20.

He says the authorities seem to have hit on the right formula, and so far no-one who has followed the course has re-offended.
