Update to electoral register begins
Register to vote and influence the course of Manx politics - that's the call from government officials as they embark on the annual update of the electoral register.
On Monday (14 January) forms will be arriving in letterboxes across the Isle of Man to gather information on those eligible to vote or do jury service.
If the list of voters living at a property is unchanged, a telephone call, text message, or online confirmation can swiftly complete the process.
Though the public may chose not to take part in elections, they are legally required to respond to the canvass by 18 March deadline.
A fine of up to £1,000 could be given to those who do not provide the information. There were 61,702 people on the register as of January this year.
Head of the Crown and Elections team at the Cabinet Office, Richard Parslow, says the update forms part of a greater push by government to maximise voter turnout and ensure it holds accurate records.
