Ramsey's Joke Shop to close

Curiosity store open since 1949

A fondly-remembered curiosity store in Ramsey is closing its doors.

The Joke Shop on West Quay has welcomed locals and tourists in their droves for generations, existing as a family business in various forms since 1949.

Walter Mills has been diligently repairing watches and peddling knick-knacks for the last 27 years.

He says he's 'very grateful for the support' as he prepares for retirement.

Tributes are being paid to the 'legendary Sunday school picnic stop' on social media - Walter insists the compliments are 'undeserved, but much appreciated'.
