Believed to be from World War Two
What's believed to be an unexploded device from World War 2 has been found in Ramsey.
Police have closed the promenade between Premier Road by the Ramsey Park Hotel and the small terrace of houses at the bottom of the Grand Island hill.
The device was found this lunchtime close to the BMX track and water pumping station on Mooragh Prom. It's believed it was unearthed during construction work for the new Ramsey sewerage works.
Officers say access to the Mooragh Park and Parklands Nursery can be made as normal via Park Road from the Ramsey Park Hotel direction.
The road, promenade walkways and footpaths from the broogh areas around the BMX track are closed to all vehicles, pedal cycles and pedestrians.
Members of the public are asked to avoid the area and heed the signs and barriers that are in place.
Inspector Derek Flint says safety must come first in these cases, but there's nothing for members of the public to worry about.
