RAF pilot diverted to Ronaldsway

There was a full emergency turn-out at Ronaldsway airport at lunchtime today, after the pilot of an RAF Hawk reported a control problem.

The call came through at just before 11.45am and the standard procedure, including the attendance of fire services from outside the airport, was followed.

The aircraft landed safely at about 11.50am.

It was still parked at the airport this afternoon and a second Hawk, which arrived at the airport at about 2.30pm, is thought to have had an engineer on board.

It's been confirmed the pilot had no plans to land at Ronaldsway until the problem arose.
