Question on alleged VAT discrepancies

The VAT revenue sharing agreement, Callow's Yard in Castletown and Summerland all feature on the question paper for today's sitting of the House of Keys.

Michael MHK David Cannan will quiz the treasury minister on what he sees as discrepancies between VAT losses quoted by the Manx Government and those highlighted in the pre-budget report in the United Kingdom.

Onchan MHK Peter Karran has a query about planning regulations and the £20 million development in Castletown.

And North Douglas MHK John Houghton will ask Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle to explain his department's policy towards the derelict site at the northern end of Douglas Promenade.

There are twelve questions for oral answer on today's order paper.

After question time, a bill which looks to change the rules on where people can get married in the Isle of Man will be picked over by MHKs.

Mr Houghton wants to bring in legislation to ban mephedrone, or 'plant food' as it's also known.

His private member's bill is designed to be able to quickly deal with many other so called 'legal highs' which are on the market, or may come out in the future.

Meanwhile, Onchan MHK Peter Karran has postponed his private member's bill on health and travel insurance until next week.

The Legislative Council is also sitting today, from 10.30am, and you can hear live coverage of today's questions from the Keys on Manx Radio's AM 1368 service, from 10am.
