Queenie fishing facing downturn?

There are claims Queenie fishing in the Isle of Man is facing a major downturn this summer.

The cost of fuel, fishing quotas and cheap imports from abroad are to blame - according to Ramsey fishmonger Paul Desmond.

He says the EU is being flooded with intensively farmed Queenies from Peru - and prices are being driven down as suppliers in the UK have vast frozen stockpiles still to be sold.

Mr Desmond says there's little incentive for Manx fishermen to catch Queenies (audio file attached):
