Pulrose woman hurled foul-mouthed abuse on Strand Street

45-year-old pleads guilty to disorderly behaviour

A Pulrose woman's been fined after hurling foul-mouthed abuse at a father and his family while shoppers watched on Strand Street.

Forty-five-year-old Sarah Louise Unsworth of Hazel Close appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.

She pleaded guilty to a single count of disorderly behaviour on 2 May.

Prosecution advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the hearing Unsworth had been friends with the man but felt slighted after he didn't thank her for buying his children football wristbands.

When Unsworth spotted the man outside Dealz on Strand Street at around 2.45pm that Saturday she began berating him in front of his sons, calling him fat and useless.

The court heard she then became more abusive, swearing and shouting loudly.

After hearing Unsworth was ashamed of her behaviour, Mrs Hughes told her she should be after the man, his young children and shoppers going about their business had all been affected by her tirade.

Unsworth was fined £300 and ordered to pay £50 towards prosecution costs.
