Public 'vital' to domestic abuse reform bill

Consultation underway on new legislation

A charity campaigner, who petitioned for domestic abuse law reform, is appealing to the public to help shape new legislation.

Last week, the Department of Home Affairs launched a consultation exercise, in an effort to modernise the Island's approach to criminal justice.

Among the three draft bills is the Diversion of Offenders and Domestic Abuse Bill.

Tamasin Wedgwood of Safe Strong Secure says public comment is vital to the creation of suitable legislation for the Isle of Man.

The survey for domestic abuse reform will run until 20 August and can be found at consult.gov.im/.
