Proposed pension schemes - ATL speaks out

There's more criticism of proposed changes to the government's public sector pension schemes.

The Association of Teachers and Lecturers says it's concerned about the plans and has added its support to the Isle of Man TUC's opposition, as has the Police Federation.

Further political debate on the matter is due to take place at next month's Tynwald sitting.

Although only a small number of ATL members, mostly classroom assistants and technicians, would be affected by any changes, the union feels it still needs to speak out.

However, Isle of Man Branch Secretary Andrew Shipley does admit the schemes are unsustainable in their current guise (audio file attached):
