The inquest into the death of Jurby prisoner Michael Davidson goes into its third day today (Wed)
The 26-year old died just three days after being arrested for affray after an incident on North Quay on March 11, 2012.
Yesterday, the court heard from a number of police officers who had been at his arrest, as well as the doctor who treated him in a subsequent hospital visit.
Today, they expect to see more CCTV footage of Mr Davidson in the police custody cell, as well as evidence from more police officers.
From the outset, the coroner of inquests stated there was no disagreement in expert evidence of the medical cause of death – with all agreeing it was due to drug toxicity.
However, there was some conflicting evidence from police officers yesterday.
A number of them said Mr Davidson never lost consciousness in the back of the police van following his arrest, but one other stated he had seen him bang his head on the side of the van and fall to the ground.
Mr Davidson was then taken to Noble’s Hospital, where he was released after only receiving saline to rehydrate him as a precaution.
As the court moves into its third day, the jury of seven will hear more evidence regarding Mr Davidson’s movements whilst in police custody.
Tomorrow, the jury will visit the prison.
