Potential blow for boat users

Private boat users will be dealt a big financial blow when the special fuel duty comes to an end.

That's according to Tom Bryan-Brown of the Isle of Man Fish Producers Association.

From November 1, the change means people using non-commercial vessels will have to pay virtually the same as motorists do at the pumps.

Anyone who currently holds a fuel card needs to discharge whatever's left on it into their tanks by 12 noon on October 31, to take advantage of the current rate, as cards will be 'zeroed' after that.

Mr Bryan-Brown says you'll notice a major difference in costs, especially if your boat takes a lot of fuel (audio file attached):
