Postal workers to go on strike again

February dates announced

A further three days of strike action by postal workers has been announced by the Communications Workers' Union.

They'll be held on 14, 15 and 16 February.

A two-day walkout was held in December.

The union has hit out at the Isle of Man Post Office's actions since then, saying it has been trying to consult with members on an individual basis.

That's rather than working through the CWU proposal in line with the process which has been agreed with the assistance of the Isle of Man industrial relations officer.

CWU Deputy General Secretary (Postal) Terry Pullinger says this approach by Post Office Management is an underhand and deliberate attempt to undermine the collective bargaining process.

The CWU also says it has received no reply to its submission on 4 January of a pragmatic programme for the future of the Post Office.

Mr Pullinger also insists the union isn't deliberately targeting Valentine's Day:
