Post Office writes open letter to Malew Commissioners

Local authority's concerns responded to

The chair of Isle of Man Post Office has written an open letter to Malew Commissioners, answering concerns the local authority has raised about the potential closure of Ballasalla sub-post office..

Julie Edge MHK says she's responding to letters sent by the local authority to the post office last month and to the chief minister earlier this week.

It begins by responding to what it says is the biggest concern - people collecting their pensions and allowances.

Ms Edge says Malew's letter acknowledges money can be paid directly into people's bank accounts, but does not highlight the proxy option available to those unable or unwilling access a bank account and unable to travel to another post office.

She goes on to say the local business community has not been overlooked and has been consulted, with more than 200 in the area being written to directly.
