Post Office needs help to save Kirk Michael and Laxey services

Expressions of interest sought

The Isle of Man Post Office is seeking expressions of interest to keep two post offices running.

It has published a request online asking anyone interested in facilitating the provision of postal, parcel or kiosk services in Kirk Michael and Laxey to come forward.

The move comes following the decision by the incumbent sub postmistresses in both Kirk Michael and Laxey to terminate their contracts for service with effect from 31 December 2022 - the timing of which is "purely coincidental".

Residents of Kirk Michael this week launched a petition to save the service.

The opportunity is initially for a limited period until 30 June 2023, whilst IOMPO works to secure agreements for key counter services provided on behalf of Government.

In a statement, the IOMPO said: "IOMPO believe this opportunity would need to complement an existing business that is looking to increase its footfall and generate an incremental additional income.

The deadline for responses is noon on Wednesday 9 November.

Anyone seeking further information should submit their request by email to procurement@iompost.com
