Port Erin Commissioners apply to reverse Cosy Nook protected status

Building added to protected register in April

Port Erin Commissioners have applied for the Cosy Nook to be taken off the Island's protected buildings register.

The building, on the north side of the bay, was only placed on the register in April this year.

It means it's currently classed as a site of significant historical interest, and cannot be demolished or altered in any way that affects its character.

The move followed plans by the commissioners to replace the current building with a modernised cafe.

In the application for de-registration the commissioners say the building has already been transformed from its original form, will not be protected from floods, and is in a very poor condition.
