Manx user targeted by scam
Police have issued a fraud warning after one Manx resident almost fell victim to a Valentine's scam.
The individual was targeted via an online dating site, by a scammer using a fake profile.
So-called 'romance fraud' is said to be a common problem, with recipients often asked for compromising photographs which are later used to blackmail them.
The Isle of Man Constabulary says it was 'fortunate' the user did not have any information compromised this time.
Officers are urging those using dating sites and apps not to hand over money, pictures or data to potential partners unless they have met in real life.
If you feel you may have been targeted by fraudsters, you can contact police on 631212.
