Police name dead man in murder investigation.

The 28 year-old man, whose death in Douglas the early hours of Wednesday sparked a murder investigation was from Port Erin.

A post mortem has confirmed William James Rogers, known as "Billy Rogers" died from a stab wound. He was found in a house in Clifton Terrace on Broadway and later died in hospital.

Two people remain in custody. A 23 year old man and a 26 year old woman. Both appeared before the High Bailiff who approved a police request to hold them in custody for a further 36 hours.

The man leading the investigation, Detective Inspector Kevin Wilson, says he is still keen to hear from anyone who may have heard or seen an altercation in the Clifton Terrace area some time after 2am on Wednesday.

Also police would like to trace the driver of a red coloured taxi who may have collected a man from the area of Broadway just before 5 am on Wednesday morning and dropped him off in the area of Marathon Road a short time afterwards. Also they want to speak with anyone who may have seen or spoken to Mr Rogers from Monday onwards.

The road through Broadway is likely to be re-opened sometime today (Friday), hopefully by midday.
