Police make a number of arrests following 'threats of retribution'

It follows the murder investigation into the death of 14-year-old Christopher McBurnie

Police say they've made a number of arrests as they investigate allegations of people making 'threats of retribution'.

It's after a juvenile male, who can't be named for legal reasons, was charged with murder following the death of 14-year-old Christopher McBurnie last Thursday.

Officers say both children and adults have been accused of making threats on social media and in person, and that more arrests are likely.

Police say it's understandable that emotions are running high, but it's important all concerned remember these incidents detract from the investigation of a 14-year-old child's death, as well as policing the TT festival.

Parents and adults involved in this behaviour are being urged to set an example to their children and ensure they are safe online.

The online portal remains open to submit any information, including footage and imagery, to the investigation team.
