Police are investigating a report of what they describe as a "malicious and nasty" email money scam, which involves a number of threats of violence being to the recipient of the email.
It includes demands for a significant amount of money to prevent those threats from being enacted.
Officers are advising the public if they receive a similar email not to reply or send money in response and to also ensure that they install appropriate virus protection software on their computers and electronic gadgets.
Investigating Officer Constable Kelly Wilkinson says she would like to hear from anyone who may have received similar emails and is urging the public not to worry about the scam but be proactive and report any instances where it is seen.
