Police assess southern roadworks

Lights deemed as good as they can be

Police in the south of the Island have been assessing the delays drivers are currently facing thanks to roadworks there.

The holdup approaching Castletown from the south is the result of ongoing work at Duck Street in Ballabeg.

There is currently a larger than normal queue approaching Castletown Corner along the bypass at peak times.

The police say the Department of Infrastructure has already altered the traffic light sequence at the bridge to prioritise traffic travelling towards Alexandra Road from the bypass.

There is still a need, however, to allow vehicles off the same junction travelling from Castletown Stadium on to the bypass heading south.

Officers have deemed the situation to be as good as it can be at present.

They're urging you to allow more time for your journey.
