Petrol: Don't compare cost with UK

Concern over the cost of fuel in the Isle of Man has been a constant political theme in recent months.

Motorists want to know why pump prices don't fall more quickly when the cost of crude oil drops.

The Office of Fair Trading has held talks with fuel companies in the Island to rule out any unfair pricing.

At the weekend Gordon Brown called on UK fuel retailers to pass-on price cuts.

Simon Kirkpatrick is Chairman of Manx Petroleums, which acts as an agent for Shell, but does NOT set the retail price.

He says the public don't always compare like-with-like when making comparisons with the UK (audio file attached):
