Peel man admits dealing cannabis but not producing it

Next court appearance in early March

A Peel man has been remanded in custody after admitting dealing cannabis.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jamie Roy Griffin of Derby Road appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse via a live videolink from the Isle of Man Prison.

He denied producing ketamine and cannabis but admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

The court heard post office staff called police after spotting two suspicious parcels addressed to Griffin – inside were £300 worth of cannabis joints and 245 grammes of ketamine with a street value of up to £12,000.

Jason Roberts reports:

Prosecution advocate James Robinson told magistrates police raided Griffin’s home a day later on 15 January.

On his mobile phone they discovered messages about cannabis dealing over the previous year.

When he was later interviewed by officers, he answered “no comment” to all questions put to him.

Magistrates remanded Griffin in custody, and he’s next due to appear in court on 4 March.
