Updated parking policy to end five-year suspension of charges for Tynwald members
Tynwald members will once again have to pay for their parking from 1 May 2025, the Department of Infrastructure has confirmed.
In response to a written Tynwald question from Douglas North MHK John Wannenburgh, Infrastructure Minister Michelle Haywood said an updated parking policy has recently been approved by the Council of Ministers and will be circulated shortly.
The change will bring an end to free parking arrangements that have been in place since April 2020, when charges for government spaces were suspended due to the Covid-19 lockdown and widespread home working.
The decision at the time was made following agreement by the Chief Officer Group and instruction from the then chief executive.
Dr Haywood said a letter will soon be issued to all Tynwald members outlining the details of the revised policy, how it will be applied, and how payments will be collected.
