Coastguards in thorough search
An investigation was launched by the Coastguard yesterday following reports of a potentially dangerous substance washing up on a beach.
Concerns were raised that palm oil had been found at the bottom of Glen Mooar, near Kirk Michael.
The whitish, waxy substance - which is a by-product from the manufacturing industry - presents a serious poisoning risk to dogs and other animals, and can prove lethal if swallowed.
Coastguards spent around an hour and a half combing nearby beaches, but nothing was found.
If you see palm oil, the official advice is to contact marine officers on 686612.
