One sentenced for not completing census form

Five others to appear in court on the same charge next month

A Douglas resident has been sentenced for failure to complete his census form.

Six people were summoned to appear in court today (11 May) accused of neglecting to fill out the government census between April and May 2016.

Michael Dunning from Belmont Terrace in Douglas was the only individual to face magistrates in person. He was found guilty, receiving a £100 fine, and ordered to pay £50 court costs.

A new court date has been set for the other five, who are charged with breaching the Census Act 1929 - they'll be asked to appear in court on 8th June.
