OFT undercover operation

The Office of Fair trading says it's pleased with the results of an undercover operation to try and find shops that would sell cigarettes to children.

A teenager accompanie by a member of staff from the OFT went into twelve shops on the Island asking for cigarettes, but was stymied by sharp-eyed staff.

On each occasion he was asked for ID, and refused.

OFT chairman Bill Henderson says he's very pleased with the outcome of the survey.
