Number of pupil suspensions 'painting a worrying picture'

MHK to quiz education minister on engagement with parents

An MHK has shared concerns over the number of pupils being suspended from the Island's schools.

David Ashford says figures shared in recent Tynwald written answers paint 'a worrying picture'.

This year alone there have been 2,431.5 days of suspension across the Island's five state-run secondary schools.

Meanwhile, 180 students have been placed on reduced or modified timetables - a similar number to last year.

Mr Ashford is concerned about the long-term impact:

David Ashford has two questions on suspensions and modified timetables for the education minister in tomorrow's sitting of Tynwald (17 June).
