No risk from Fukushima rain

There’s no health implications for Island residents, despite traces of radiation from the Fukushima disaster being found in our rainwater.

That reassurance from the senior scientist at the Manx government laboratory, Dr Paul McKenna.

The laboratory’s annual report shows rain originating from Fukushima fell in the Island last March, two and a half weeks after the Japanese earthquake and tsunami.

However, Dr McKenna insists the fallout here is of no concern to human health or the environment.
