No immediate plans to bring back plastic pounds

The Isle of Man won't be re-introducing plastic bank notes any time soon.

So says Treasury Minister Eddie Teare as the Bank of England prepares to trial new polymer notes.

Officials say they're longer lasting, cheaper to produce and more environmentally friendly than paper.

The Bank has organised a roadshow to gauge public opinion across the UK over the next two months before coming to a final decision in December.

If it goes ahead the switch over could start with the new £5 note as soon as 2016

Mr Teare says there are no immediate plans for the Island to follow suit . .
