No government action on gas prices

Chief minister says bills won't rise by more than £25

Chief Minister Allan Bell says no action will be taken over the recent Manx Gas billing changes – unless the company breaches a regulatory agreement.

This morning in the House of Keys, he was quizzed on the issue by Onchan MHK Peter Karran who asked him what action the government will take.

Mr Bell told the House nobody would pay more than £25 a year extra for their gas and the firm will not be able to make more than an agreed level of profit.

But he said the Office of Fair Trading would monitor the deal signed between itself, the Department of Economic Development, Manx Gas and the Treasury:
