No firework display in Port Erin this year

Commissioners have looked at using reserves

There'll be no official firework display in Port Erin this year.

That's despite the local commissioners agreeing to look at funding it from emergency reserves.

Chair Godfrey Egee has confirmed they met on 11 October about the possibility of hosting the annual fireworks display but have now agreed it's not something they will be progressing.

He said: "Whilst I am sure that this news will be disappointing to some, it is important to note that there was no provision to hold a fireworks display this year, which was a decision based upon operational, financial, ecological and local business impacts taken during our rates setting process in December 2021.

He added there are other events like the Hop Tu Naa Spooky Walk that will take place in the area instead.
