No cancer link with Sellafield?

There is no obvious link between the number of cancer cases in the Isle of Man and the close proximity of the Sellafield nuclear reprocessing plant.

The Island's Director of Public Health, Dr Parameswaran Kishore, is strongly suggesting preliminary findings from a five year study dispel the myth there is a link.

The data covers the period to 2005 and will be the subject of a report to be published before the end of the year. There will also be a public meeting.

Dr Kishore says that once the cancer health of the Island has been determined strategies will be drawn up for treatment and prevention (audio file attached):

Dr Kishore (pictured) was asked about the possibility of a link between cancer cases in the Island and Sellafield.
