New sheltered housing for Ramsey

£6m build to begin next year

Ramsey is to have a new sheltered housing complex.

The Ramsey and Northern Districts Housing Committee has confirmed construction of Mayfield, on Queen’s Pier Road, is set to begin in the middle of next year.

It comes after the town's local authority transferred land it owned there to the committee in 2016.

Ramsey Commissioners says the £6 million, 37-unit complex will provide 27 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom apartments.

Similar to the existing Kerroo Glass and Cooyrt Balleigh sheltered complexes, Mayfield will include communal facilities, passenger lifts, secure door access and a personal alarm system in each apartment.

It's been designed to maximise energy efficiency - the building will feature low-energy lighting, heat recovery extractor fans and underfloor heating.
