New initiative should reduce 'cheekiness' of asking for water refills

Refill Isle of Man aims to cut down on plastic bottle waste

It's hoped a new initiative on the Island will help cut the number of single-use plastic bottles being thrown away.

Refill Isle of Man has been instigated by UK company City to Sea and operated by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.

The scheme involves registered businesses displaying a blue sticker in their windows and appearing on the Refill app to indicate that they will top-up people's water bottles for free.

Owner of the Tea Junction in Douglas, Marc Davison, believes the scheme will put people at ease with asking for their bottles to be refilled.
